What are the Additions?

Catholic Bibles include six Greek additions to Esther, labeled A–F, which expand the narrative with prayers, royal edicts, and explicit references to God. These additions are part of the Catholic canon (affirmed at Trent), while most Protestant Bibles omit them [1] [2].

Where to Read in DRB Numbering

In the Douay-Rheims (following the Vulgate order), the additions are integrated into the book; a convenient entry point is Esther 10:4 (Addition F) immediately after 10:3. The other additions are placed at A (before 1:1), B (after 3:13), C–D (after 4:17), and E (after 8:12) [1] [3] [4].
