App Licensing

1) License Grant — Web (Widget v1.2 Alpha)

Scope. Non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to embed the widget on the approved domains you list (subdomains included unless restricted).

Included. Embeddable widget code, configuration for the King James Version (KJV), updates we release during Alpha, and basic integration guidance.

Non-KJV church/nonprofit availability. Other translations may be considered only for churches and religious nonprofit organizations, only on an organization-specific basis, and only when the requested use is permitted by the applicable copyright holder’s or publisher’s current license terms. Separate written approval, notices, attribution, territorial limitations, technical restrictions, or direct publisher permission may be required. Availability through Living Word Bibles does not create a general public license or sublicense in the underlying translation.

Not included. Any independent rights to translation texts; hosting; custom engineering; data exports; or native-app use. No non-KJV Scripture right is granted merely because a translation can technically be displayed by LWB software.

Term. Month-to-month during Alpha; either party may terminate on notice (see §10).

2) License Grant — iOS (KJV-Only)

Scope. Non-exclusive, non-transferable license to deploy our iOS app that displays the KJV only. Other translations are not licensed for iOS under this page.

Distribution. We support Apple’s Custom App / private distribution so the app can be made available to specific organizations through Apple Business Manager or Apple School Manager using the distribution methods Apple makes available through App Store Connect. Apple states that privately distributed Custom Apps are available only to the businesses or organizations specified by the developer.

App Store compliance. Your deployment must comply with Apple’s App Store Review Guidelines, including applicable intellectual-property requirements.

Limitations. No Android or other native platforms under this license. Any non-KJV iOS content requires a separate written agreement and all publisher/rightsholder permissions applicable to that translation and proposed use.

3) Acceptable Use

• Keep LWB attribution (“Powered by Living Word Bibles”) and any translation notices intact.
• No removal/obfuscation of watermarks, source attributions, or license text.
• No scraping, mass export, offline packaging, or automated bulk requests.
• No unlawful content, spam, deceptive practices, or uses violating publisher terms.
• No use of a non-KJV translation outside the church/religious-nonprofit scope or beyond the permission applicable to that translation.

4) Branding & Attribution

Display the LWB credit line near the widget/app or in your site/app About screen. For the standard KJV implementation, preserve the LWB credit and any applicable KJV/territorial notice. If a non-KJV translation is separately approved for a church or religious nonprofit, show every copyright, trademark, source, attribution, quotation, and other notice required by the applicable rightsholder and by Living Word Bibles.

5) Implementation & Performance

We may serve assets via CDNs and rate-limit abuse to protect service quality. You’re responsible for page/app performance, SEO, and consent banners where applicable. You may not modify the implementation in a way that misidentifies the Scripture translation, strips required notices, defeats territorial or technical restrictions, or falsely represents modified Scripture as an authorized translation.

6) Privacy

The widget/app may generate ordinary technical, security, diagnostic, and usage logs needed to operate, protect, troubleshoot, and audit the service. Living Word Bibles handles its own data practices under the Privacy Policy. Your site/app remains responsible for any privacy notice, consent mechanism, analytics disclosure, advertising disclosure, cookie notice, or other legal requirement arising from your own implementation and data practices.

Unless a specific feature expressly requires otherwise, an LWB integration should not be configured to transmit passwords, payment credentials, or unrelated sensitive form contents to LWB.

7) Scripture Text Permissions

Web — standard public embed. The standard Living Word Bibles widget/embed license is KJV only. It covers the approved LWB widget implementation; it does not grant ownership of the KJV text or any other Scripture text.

Web — other translations. Non-KJV translations are available only to approved churches and religious nonprofit organizations and only when the proposed use complies with the applicable publisher/copyright holder license. Required notices, quotation limits, territorial restrictions, nonprofit-use limitations, advertising restrictions, technical conditions, or direct permission requirements remain in force. LWB does not sublicense a translation right that it does not own or have authority to grant.

iOS (KJV-only). The historic KJV text is public domain in the United States. In the United Kingdom, separate Crown rights apply to the Authorized Version. Cambridge University Press states that rights in the Authorized (King James) Version are vested in the Crown and provides a permissions process for Bible reuse. Organizations making the KJV available in the UK must review and comply with the current applicable rights requirements.

8) Fees & Ordering

Pricing is per organization and domain (web) and/or per organization (iOS KJV). Provide your entity name, contact, domains, expected traffic, and whether you’ll use Apple Custom App distribution or another supported path.

Requests involving a non-KJV translation must also identify the church or religious nonprofit organization, requested translation, proposed use, territory, domains/platforms, and any publisher permission or license information already held by the requesting organization. LWB may require additional rightsholder approval before enabling the translation.

9) Updates & Support (Alpha)

Alpha status. Features may change; backward compatibility isn’t guaranteed.

Support. Best-effort email support during business hours (US Eastern). No uptime/SLA commitments during Alpha.

Rights changes. Translation availability may also change if a publisher, copyright holder, platform, or applicable law changes the permissions or conditions governing a translation.

10) Termination

Either party may terminate for convenience with 10 days’ notice, or immediately for material breach. On termination, remove the widget/app and cease use of LWB marks. A translation-specific implementation may also be suspended or removed sooner when required to comply with a copyright holder, publisher license, territorial restriction, platform requirement, or applicable law.

11) Warranty & Liability

Provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. LWB disclaims all implied warranties to the maximum extent permitted by law and isn’t liable for indirect, special, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits/revenue/goodwill.

12) Compliance & Indemnity

You represent that your site/app and your use of translations comply with applicable law, publisher policies, translation-specific licenses, territorial restrictions, and Apple’s rules where applicable. You agree to indemnify LWB against third-party claims arising from your implementation, content, use beyond the applicable license, or non-compliance.

13) Governing Law

Indiana, USA, without regard to conflicts rules; venue in state/federal courts located in Indiana, except to the extent mandatory law or a controlling third-party translation license requires otherwise.
